How eBay charges for card sales
Trading cards sit in a category with its own rate. Without an eBay Store, or with a Starter Store, the final value fee is 13.25% of the order total up to $7,500 and 2.35% on anything above that. Basic and higher stores pay 12.35% up to $2,500 and 2.35% above. Every order also carries a per-order fee of $0.30, or $0.40 when the order is over $10.
The order total includes the price, the shipping the buyer paid and the sales tax eBay collected. That's why the fee on a $75 card is more than 13.25% of $75. The eBay fees guide has a table of fees at common card prices.
Promoted listings
A standard promoted listing only costs you when the buyer clicked the ad and bought within the attribution window. When it applies, the ad rate comes on top of the final value fee, so a 5% ad turns a 13.25% fee into roughly 18%.
Ways to keep more of each sale
- Bundle cards to the same buyer into one order. You pay the per-order fee once.
- Match shipping to the card's value. The shipping calculator compares every option.
- Don't promote cards that sell on their own. The ad rate on a quick seller is money you didn't need to spend.
Questions
What percentage does eBay take on trading cards?
13.25% of the total order for most sellers, plus $0.30 or $0.40 per order. Above $7,500 the rate on the extra amount drops to 2.35%.
Why does eBay charge a fee on sales tax?
eBay calculates the final value fee on everything the buyer paid. You don't keep the tax, but the fee on it still comes out of your payout.
Are these rates current?
They were checked in October 2026. eBay changes fees from time to time, so compare against your seller dashboard on large sales.
